Johnson & Johnson Leadership Team Visits the Nursing Platform to Strengthen Strategic Collaboration

In a significant step towards advancing healthcare initiatives, the Nursing Platform hosted a delegation from the Johnson & Johnson Foundation (J&J) led by Howard Reid, Vice President of Global Community Impact for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). The high-level visit underscored J&J’s commitment to fostering impactful partnerships in the region.
Accompanying Mr Reid were key members of the leadership team, including:

• Anthony Gitau, Director of Global Community Impact for Sub-Saharan Africa
• Iddah Asin, Head of Government Affairs and Policy
• Regeru Njoroge, Medical Affairs Social & Implementation Scientist
• Anthony Kanyatta, Global Implementation Lead.

The meeting provided an excellent platform for discussions on enhancing ongoing initiatives, particularly in strengthening healthcare systems and supporting education and capacity building in the nursing and midwifery sectors.

Mr Reid remarked, “At Johnson & Johnson, we believe in the power of collaboration to drive meaningful change. Our partnership with the Nursing Platform reflects our shared vision of improving healthcare outcomes and empowering communities. There’s a lot of synergy between our organization’s objectives and the work that the Nursing Platform is doing. We’re focusing on fewer, deeper partnerships, and I’m elated that the one with the Nursing Platform is one of these.”

During the visit, the delegation also reviewed the joint projects supported by J&J, including the Aga Khan University Institute for Human Development Resilience Study, which generated an evidence base for understanding levels of psychosocial distress and their correlates among nurses, midwives, and community health volunteers (CHVs) in Kenya. The delegation expressed enthusiasm about the progress made and reaffirmed their dedication to providing continued support.

This partnership is a testament to the shared mission of both organizations to address pressing healthcare challenges, build local capacity, and discuss future collaborations aimed at advancing the nursing profession in Kenya.
Together, we’re working on impactful health solutions to elevate the role of nursing in Kenya. #ChangeMakers
